Description	Favorita (or the Company), through wholly owned operating companies incorporated in Ecuador, is one of the Country’s leading vertically integrated banana growers and exporters. Other activities within the group include production of plastic bags, fumigation services, importing of fertilizers, dairy farming and processing (including yogurt and cheese), forestry and cattle ranching. The project aims on (i) providing Favorita with working capital needed for the ongoing banana replanting effort which consists of ~5-7% of the total arable area per annum; and (ii) debt restructuring process. This corporate investment is IFC’s fifth transaction with Favorita, and builds on a partnership begun in 1993, when IFC provided initial financial support to the Company.
