Description
Description | The Ivorian energy sector is facing major challenges. Demand for electricity from households and companies is increasing. The share of renewable energies is to be increased to 45%. At the same time, security of supply and grid stability must be improved. The investments in generation and transmission infrastructure required for this cannot be covered by public funds alone. As part of the reform partnership, the Federal Government is therefore supporting the Ivorian Ministry of Energy and the electricity supplier CI-ENERGIES in making the sector more attractive for private investment. The implementation of reforms is supported by an accompanying measure and flanked by investments. The FC programme finances three main activities - Increasing the membership fee for African Trade Insurance (ATI), which insures private investments in Côte d'Ivoire - Construction of a 225 kV transmission line in the east of Côte d'Ivoire, which improves security of supply and reduces power losses - Contribution to the Ivorian electrification programme Programme Electricité Pour Tous, with which 130,000 households in the north and east of the country will be connected to the electricity grid for the first time. The programme thus contributes to the national implementation of Agenda 2030, in particular SDG 7 (access to affordable and clean energy) and SDG 13 (climate protection). |
