Description | The FCAS (Future Combat Air System) is a joint fighter jet programme involving Germany, France, and Spain aimed at developing a sixth-generation fighter jet to replace French Rafale and German and Spanish Eurofighters from 2040. The project has faced setbacks and disagreements, particularly between Germany and France over leadership and work-share composition. Defence ministers of the three countries plan to meet in October 2025 to explore ways to restart the stalled programme and decide on launching the second phase of developing airworthy demonstrators by the end of 2025. |
