The purpose of the study is to address sewage by-passes and reduce contamination of receiving environments (i.e. rivers, lakes) as well as reduce the wastewater treatment loadings to the Greenstone wastewater treatment plant. At this time, the First Nation is returning excessive flows (surface, ground water, infiltration of water) that they receive to the wastewater treatment plant well above that

Description
Description | The purpose of the study is to address sewage by-passes and reduce contamination of receiving environments (i.e. rivers, lakes) as well as reduce the wastewater treatment loadings to the Greenstone wastewater treatment plant. At this time, the First Nation is returning excessive flows (surface, ground water, infiltration of water) that they receive to the wastewater treatment plant well above that which is originally distributed through the drinking water system. The study will be conducted in two phases. Phase 1 includes an assessment study to conduct water audit of water distribution and sewage collection system to address the water losses and high inflow/infiltration issues at the First Nation. Phase 2 includes a plan for optimizing and address the water losses and high inflow/infiltration issues. Successful completion of this project will ensure that untreated wastewater does not enter the environment and negatively impact surrounding communities. |
