Federal Land Sale Proposal in Utah and Nevada

Cancelled

A provision in the tax bill proposed the sale or transfer of about 460,000 acres of federal land in Nevada and Utah to local governments or private entities. This proposal was later stripped from the bill following opposition from some Republicans and Western lawmakers who argued the land belongs to everyone and that selling it to pay off debt is misguided. The land sales were intended to generate revenue and ease growth pressures by creating room for more and cheaper housing in Western cities.
