The extension runs southwards from Angle Lake to Federal Way Downtown, featuring extensive park and ride facilities with nearly 2,000 new parking spaces. The project is part of the Sound Transit 2 regional transport development scheme approved in 2008, with groundbreaking held in summer 2020. Kiewit Infrastructure West handled design and civil works, while Mass Electric Construction Co managed systems installation and commissioning. The project cost $2.5 billion, with significant federal funding and loans. |
