The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has opened the first federally-funded electric vehicle charging station on the Pennsylvania Turnpike at the Blue Mountain service plaza at Exit 202 westbound. Another station will open next week at the New Stanton plaza at Exit 77 westbound. The stations were funded by the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program. The Pennsylvania Turnpike has partnered with Applegreen Electric to add 80 new universal EV stations at all 17 service plazas by the end of 2027.
