Description

Description

FTJ Bio Power Sdn Bhd was created to build, own and operate a 10 MW empty fruit bunch biomass power plant to be located at Jenka, Pahang, Malaysia. The project company was a joint venture between between Felda Palm Industries Sdn Bhd and Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), with respective 60% and 40% equity stakes. The project is built on 4.2 hectares of land. In October 2011, TNB signed a Power Purchase Agreement with FTJ Bio Power Sdn Bhd under the Small Renewable Energy Power (SREP) Programme. SREP allows renewable projects of up to 10 MW to sell their output to the utility, under 21-year licence agreements (tariff: 30 'sen'/kWh). Any renewable energy plant (including biomass, biogas, municipal waste, solar, mini-hydropower and wind) may apply to sell energy to the grid on a "willing seller and willing buyer" basis. The project was expected to be operational by December 2012. Estimated project cost was USD 36 million. Exact details of the transaction were not publicly available. Estimated commissioning was for December 2012. The project is reported as financial closure in December 2012, expected commissioning date. http://www.palmoilprices.net/news/felda-global-tnb-in-jv-for-biomass-plant/ http://www.bursacommunity.com/t5885-tnb-inks-21-year-deal-with-ftj-bio-power
