Description
Description | The BRIC program was a federal funding initiative that supported local infrastructure projects aimed at natural disaster mitigation, such as stormwater control systems and relocating or elevating buildings in flood-prone areas. It was established in 2018 and provided billions in funding to help communities prepare for natural disasters. The program was unilaterally shut down by the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA in April 2025, leading to a lawsuit by 20 states challenging the legality of this termination and the impact on ongoing and planned mitigation projects. |
