Description

Description

The project “Female perspectives on the democratic transitions of the 1970s, 1980s and the 1990s” aims to encourage mutual understanding between citizens from different European countries, celebrating instances, actors, and groups that struggled for pluralism, democracy, and freedom, including life stories of courageous women, who set examples of civil resistance to defend fundamental freedoms which characterize the European Union today. The project has three dimensions through which it will highlight the significance of the democratic transitions in Europe. Firstly, it will give insight into women’s involvement in the democratic changes and social and political turmoil in Bulgaria, Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, and Spain. Secondly, the project also has a strong educational dimension realized through various activities. Thirdly, it will develop an advocacy dimension that will engage European citizens and policymakers, public officials, and opinion leaders in a dialogue on how to achieve a more gender-balanced understanding of history.
