In March 2006, Asia Environment Holding and Shanghai Excellent Trade Co. won a 40-year build, operate, transfer (BOT) contract to provide potable water in Fengtai and Panji Counties of Anhui Province, China. The potable water facility provides 100,000 cubic meters of water daily. The project company was owned 35% by Singapore-listed Asia Environment Holding, 50% by Chinese Shanghai Excellent Trade Co., and the remaining 15% by the Fengtai County government. Total estimated investment in the project was RMB 140 million (US$ 17.6million) in two phases, with the first phase providing 50,000 cubic meters at a cost of RMB 85 million (US$ 10.7 million) and the second providing an additional 50,000 cubic meters at RMB 55 million (US$ 7.1 million). The contract was expected to run through 2048, 40 years after construction is completed. The plant and pipe network were projected to finish first phase construction in 2007 and second phase in 2008. As of February 2007, the project was under construction.
