The Fensfeltet formation near Ulefoss in Telemark, Norway, is a vast rare earth element deposit inside the roots of an ancient volcano. The project involves exploration and potential extraction of rare earth oxides to support Europe's green ambitions, including electric vehicles and wind turbines. The concept includes an 'invisible mine' with underground shafts and conveyor tunnels to minimize surface impact, along with new infrastructure such as roads, power lines, and processing facilities.
