Fernie - Fernie Valley Pathway - Segment 1B

The project will improve active transportation in the City of Fernie by constructing an approx. 1.7 km section of the Fernie Valley Pathway (FVP). The pathway is a 6.1 km multi-use pathway that, when complete will connect the City of Fernie to the Fernie Alpine Resort. The section to be completed under the CVRIS grant is from Mount Fernie Provincial Park Road to the Fernie Alpine Resort. The project is located on the HWY 3 corridor and will separate the traffic from the active transportation users. Once completed the pathway will cover the urban portions of the planned trail. The project works include: -preparation of subgrade and root barriers; -excavation and earthworks; -construction of trail base; -asphalt paving; -installation of a pedestrian bridge; -installation of retaining walls; -construction of ditches; -landscaping, including topsoil spreading and seeding; and, -all related works.
