Description | The early extension of the concession contract for Ferrovia Centro-Atlântica was qualified in the Investment Partnership Program (PPI) at the 2nd Meeting of the PPI Council, through Resolution No. 10, of 03/07/2017, converted into Decree No. 9,059 , of 05/25/2017. The benefits expected from the extension of the current contract, for another 30 years, will be the mandatory investments in security and the increase in capacity, which will be agreed by the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT). With just over 7,200 km of metric gauge lines, the Centro-Atlântica Railway holds the largest federal concession network, which is divided into corridors, namely: a) Central-Southeast Corridor, comprising the lines that cross Goiás , Minas Gerais and São Paulo, bound for the Port of Santos; b) Minas-Rio Corridor, comprising the states of Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais; c) Minas-Bahia Corridor, whose lines cross the north of Minas Gerais reaching Bahia, at the Port of Aratú and Petrolina, on the banks of the São Francisco River; d) Central-East Corridor, connecting Minas Gerais to Espírito Santo in connection with the EFVM. The main goods moved in 2022, in thousands of useful tons, were: soybeans, 7,454; iron ore, 6,905; sugar, 4,620; steelmaking limestone, 1,465 corn; 1,350; bauxite, 1,269; soybean meal, 1,051; The extension of the current contract, which will end on August 31, 2026, will also bring forward investments, which would only be made from 2027 onwards. A large part of the grant from this project may be directed to investments in the public interest, such as new investments in the network itself or in other interventions on the national railway network (cross-investments). These improvements will be an obligation of the dealership.
