Description

Description

"In 2022 and in 2023, Folioscope will organize “Anima, the Brussels International Animation Film Festival"" like every year since 1982. The festival exclusively screens animated films, both short and feature, mostly of European origin with a special attention to the booming European feature film production. In its program, the festival pays a lot of attention to new developments, both technological and content-related, to gender equality and inclusion and is strongly committed to do this is the most ecological way. The festival takes place during the Spring school holidays in the sublime Flagey-building in Brussels and organizes also decentralized programs in a number of locations in Wallonia and Flanders. Since the only online 40th edition in 2021, Anima developed the “Anima Online platform”, that will be maintained for the next editions. In this way, Anima can expand and diversify its audience and guarantee the quality and quantity of its program, independently of the circumstances. Anima is one of the most important festivals in Europe and is qualified to nominate its candidates for the Oscar® for best animated short film. The festival has great reputation and a huge fan basis and has been awarded Best International Event of Brussels in 2011. The next editions of the festival will take place from 25 February to 6 March 2022 and from 24 February to 5 March in 2023 and expect more than 70 000 visitors (children, adults and professionals) each year. If all goes well, there will be theatrical screenings again, in several cinemas in Brussels, in Wallonia and Flanders, with numerous meetings, workshops, conferences, exhibitions, and the online platform! Folioscope will also organize year-round activities in 2022 and 2023 : The Anima Saturdays (one session per month), the Anima on Tour screenings (nearly 15 a year), and the Anima Collection on Sooner (online platform) to promote animation to a larger audience in Belgium and all over the world in all possible ways."
