Description

Description

Mesopotamia FZE, Tiryaki Agro Gida Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S., and IFC collaborate to assess food and feed security solutions in Iraq. The three organizations are collaborating on a six-month Integrated Feasibility and Resource Assessment Study to evaluate the establishment of Food and Feed Security Compounds (FFSCs) across Iraq. These FFSCs are designed to promote sustainable farming, boost feed production, generate renewable energy, and enhance storage capacity while directly engaging farmers through capacity building initiatives. Overall, the FFSC initiative seeks to Strengthen Iraq’s food and feed security through sustainable farming practices. This is to be done through various actions that will be identified and defined as part of this collaboration engagement. More specifically, this upstream collaboration will: • Analyze the business case and financial feasibility of FFSCs to ensure long-term viability. • Assess soil, water, and agricultural resources to maximize productivity and sustainability. • Conduct Environmental and Social (E&S) screenings for the first two proposed FFSC sites, ensuring alignment with IFC Performance Standards and international best practices.
