Description

The Action aims at reducing discrimination against and at favouring the integration of Roma through a pilot model, targeting Roma communities, local authorities, professionals working with Roma and CSOs. Activities: Compare experience and promising practices at local, national and European level; Develop a holistic integration pathway ready to be tested. Implement a pilot scheme in 3 Italian cities (Torino, Cuneo, Rimini) which will include: ● Measures to guarantee the scholastic support of Roma children and youth ● Development of educational and intercultural initiatives bringing together Roma and non-Roma youth ● Trainings modules for professionals working with Roma ● Employment and legal support ● Monitoring of the “micro-areas” (small public or private areas where one or two extended Roma families live) Advocacy and Communication activities will include recommendations for policy makers and itinerant multimedia Beneficiaries: ● 700 Roma from Torino (430), Cuneo (150), Rimini (120), about 35-45% are children/youth ● 80 professionals working with Roma (law enforcement, teachers, social assistants) ● 600 students of primary & secondary schools ● 1000 citizens living near the Roma settlements/micro-areas Expected results: ● Increased competencies of at least 70 professionals ● Increased inclusion of at least 180 Roma people from 3 TO, RN, CN of which at least 50% children through full integrated pathways ● Increased active participation and integration in the mainstream society of 700 Roma people of TO, RN, CN ● Increased awareness on harmful stereotype and anti-gipsy among the local communities of TO, RN, CN ● increased awareness at EU and national policy-making level on Roma Integration Strategies and anti-gipsy Deliverables: ● 4 seminars to introduce the training package for professionals (in IT/BG/ENG) ● 1 itinerant multimedia exhibition ● 1 round-table/debate in Rome at the Chamber of Deputies ● 1 round table with European parliament members, representatives of the major Roma organization
