Description
Description | Association of Czech Film Clubs (Asociace ceskych filmovych klubu, ACFK, https://acfk.cz/about/ ) is one of the leading arthouse distributors on Czech market. The organisation was founded in 1993, but it directly follows a tradition which goes back to 1963. This organisation currently joins 90 film clubs with 8000 members. Every year, ACFC buys artistically significant films for Czech distribution, runs own festival Summer Film School (https://english.lfs.cz/) and owns extensive archive which contains more than 30 titles. Czech film clubs have been visited since the 1960s. And even though a lot has changed since then, the essential things still last – collective gatherings, watching and sharing films that will never fall within the standard scope of theatrical releases. Film clubs have always formed the bedrock of the Association of Czech Film Clubs enabling us to pursue our further activities: we are a remarkable film distributor, we organize one of the biggest Czech film festivals and participate in an international cinema education project. Our film distribution presents high-quality films, both Czech and foreign. Our distribution line-up from last 10 years includes films like Shame by Steve McQueen, Nick Cave: 20 000 Days on Earth by Forsyth and Pollard, Samba by Nakache and Toledano, A Man Called Ove by Hannes Holm, In Fabric by Peter Strickland, Corpus Christi by Jan Komasa, Belle by Mamoru Hosoda and many others. Main objective of the project is to maintain our theatrical distribution and improve our line-up by acquiring important European nonnational arthouse films. Our main activity will be theatrical distribution of selected films accompanied by extensive P.R. and marketing campaign. Expected result is to release around 4 European film in the Czech cinemas per year. The project will run core ACFC team consisting of 10 members of staff including director, programme directors, marketing director, P.R. manager, economist etc. |
