Final Underpass at Pragati Maidan Tunnel Complex

The final underpass (UP-5) at the Pragati Maidan tunnel complex in Delhi is set to resume construction after being stalled for over two years due to technical challenges. The project involves reducing the underpass dimensions to accommodate only light motor vehicles, decreasing lanes from three to two. Construction is expected to be completed within eight months following approvals. The underpass has two sections; one completed two-lane section carries traffic from ITO-Ring Road to Bhairon Marg, and the other under construction will carry traffic from Bhairon Marg to Ring Road. The project faced issues due to waterlogging and flooding risks near the Yamuna bank and railway tracks overhead, which have been addressed with a revised drainage system and construction methods.
