Description

Description

The Financial Management, Transparency, and Accountability Project (FIMTAP) for Malawi aims to improve an effective and accountable use of public expenditures through capacity building and institutional strengthening for budget implementation and oversight, and increase transparency of government institutions, as well as to improve human and institutional capacity for expenditure accountability. The project seeks to strengthen expenditure, improve financial management systems, and enhance human capital development. There are four components to the project: strengthening accountability institutions to reduce corruption, and improve allocation and utilization of resources; improve financial management that will electronically link Government with an integrated financial management system to provide data; and human development to support the creation of critical skills needed in areas of financial management, auditing, accounting, management, and information technology; and FIMTAP Secretariat - the project will be managed by the FIMTAP Secretariat.
