Finnish data collection for city and subnational statistics The general objective of this project is the collection of quantitative information on the quality of life in Finnish cities and Functional Urban Areas (FUA). The project aims at producing comparable and reliable statistics in support of EU policy initiatives on regional development, as well as in support of better-informed and tailored policies at a more local level. The data collection and validation of data is done in close cooperation with the cities, as in the previous eight collections of Urban Audit Indicators and Subnational Statistics. The main part of the statistics will be collected and compiled at Statistics Finland using mostly annually produced register data as source. The project will include the provision of statistics on cities and FUAs and the provision of metadata. The project will include one activity: 1. Provision of statistics on Cities and Functional Urban Areas As output the project will produce high quality and comparable city statistics data for nine Finnish cities and their FUAs, as well as metadata describing the data sources, methodology used in compilation and possible deviations from the ESS methodology. The existing timeseries in the database City Statistics provided by Eurostat will be updated with data for the reference years 2021 and 2022, making comparisons between Finnish and other European cities possible.
