Description
Description | The Finnish Safer Internet Centre 2024–2025 (FISIC 2024–2025) aims to empower citizens to use the Internet and the information and communication technologies (ICT) in a positive, safe and efficient way with critical consideration and responsible attitude. This, on one hand, reduces the risks and possible harm people may encounter in digital environments and, on the other hand, strengthens the image of the Internet as a place of opportunities. This will foster the acquisition of digital skills and media literacy that will allow citizens to participate fully in the digital society and economy, therefore, contributing to economic growth and European citizenship. Special attention is given to children in vulnerable situations by instructing and training professionals working with them. In FISIC 2024–2025 themes like mental health and well-being are emphasised. The FISIC 2024–2025 consists of three main activities stated in the Digital Europe Work Programme 2023: a centre for raising awareness, Helpline to give advice, and a Hotline for tackling child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and child sexual exploitation material (CSEM). In addition, FISIC 2024–2025 provides a youth panel engaging with children and young people and offering them an arena to express their views and share their knowledge on issues concerning them. The overall objective of the Finnish Safer Internet Centre 2024–2025 will be reached by offering online safety information, educational resources and training, and tools for online safety and media education, as well as counselling and reporting services, through a dedicated Helpline and a Hotline. The Action will run for 18 months, and will include evaluation and reporting as specified in the Grant Agreement. Reporting to the European core platform and internal evaluation through, for e.g., regular working groups, will maintain the topicality and flexibility of the Project in relation to the fast development of the Internet and digital culture. |
