The plant aims to supply the national electricity network, reduce fuel consumption during peak daytime loads, and decrease environmental impact from gas emissions. It will have a peak capacity of 300 megawatts. Additional solar projects are underway in Babil and Basra provinces with capacities of 225 megawatts and 1,000 megawatts respectively, as part of a broader plan to expand renewable energy and ease electricity shortages in Iraq. |
