Description

The Project consists of acquiring and renovating the following properties in the City of St. John’s: • Cochrane Centre (81 Cochrane Street) - Renovation to establish an Indigenous arts, creativity, and performance centre. • Caledonia Place (40 Quidi Vidi Road) - Acquisition and renovation to house and deliver community-oriented programs for local Indigenous communities in the areas of education, health, youth engagement, culture, childcare, recreation, and community support. Additionally, purchasing a property adjacent to Caledonia Place (36 Quidi Vidi Road) to further accommodate First Light space requirements for delivering its Indigenous programs and services. The scope of the project includes acquisition/renovation of these properties to showcase Indigenous arts, reconciliation projects and a community space that acts as a social enterprise to sustain the heritage of Indigenous people. The Project aims to provide two newly renovated indigenous community centers/hubs for the benefit of Indigenous peoples, including vulnerable populations
