Description

Description

The objective of the project is to build new facilities at the First Nations University of Canada’s Lands-based Learning Centre, including cabins for learners, as well as spaces for campers and shower/washroom facilities and a mess hall with a commercial kitchen. A permanent sweat lodge structure will be built, along with an outdoor learning centre as well as a water pump / filtration building. The Centre will serve as a place for Indigenous teaching and learning on the land. The space will be open to the public, however guests will have to book or reserve their time at the learning centre. The main function of the space is for the University’s Indigenous Social Work and Indigenous Education culture camps which are requirements of the bachelor degrees offered at First Nations University of Canada. However, the University will expand on offerings at the location to include the public who seek to experience Indigenous traditional ways of learning and knowing as well as private companies.
