Description
Description | The general objective of the conditional credit line for investment projects (CCLIP) is to help make Ecuador¿s population more competitive and increase its social and economic integration. The total amount of the CCLIP will be US$1.25 billion for a term of 10 years. Of this amount, the Bank will contribute US$1 billion, and the local counterpart will contribute US$250 million. The CCLIP will partially finance the requirements of the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works (MTOP) to improve and expand the road infrastructure, and will support institutional capacity building for the MTOP to efficiently administer resources, develop a medium- and long-term approach to meeting road infrastructure requirements, and substantially improve management of the preservation and maintenance of the National Road System (NRS). The CCLIP will support the following strategic lines of activity: (i) expansion of road capacity; (ii) preservation of road assets; (iii) better management of the road system, particularly in terms of safety (road signs and critical points) and eliminating discontinuities; and (iv) improved planning and programming capabilities. The expected benefits of the strategy include improved physical integration of the road network, better access and serviceability, preservation of existing road assets, growing optimization of road system management, and the economic benefits from interventions. |
