The Deep Sea Fisheries Project in China will assist in the purchase of sixteen long liner tuna vessels for expansion of the country's deep-sea tuna fishing fleet. It will consist of a total of 10,200 tons of deep sea fishing vessels, along with tuna long liners, and 8,000 tons of inshore fishing vessels, while 10,800 tons of different types of powered fishing boats and 8,000 tons of non-powered fishing boats will be replaced over the four-year period of the plan. This project will increase fisheries production from the 1960 figure of 259,000 metric tons to 360,000 metric tons in 1964, of which some 13,000 tons would be for export in frozen form.
