Fitesa Nãotecidos S.A. (“Fitesa” or the “Company”) is an existing IFC’s client. In 2022, IFC provided a $50m A Loan to support the Company’s expansion plan at Gravataí and Cosmópolis manufacturing plants in Brazil (project number 45571). Environmental and Social (E&S) performance is satisfactory based on IFC’s supervision to date.  Fitesa produces nonwoven fabrics by spunmelt, meltblown, carded and airlaid technology, and elastic and non-elastic films and laminates. A nonwoven is an engineered fibrous assembly, primarily planar, which has been given a designed level of structural integrity by physical and/or chemical means, excluding weaving, knitting or paper making. Customers use the fabrics for producing diapers, feminine care products, adult incontinence products, surgical masks and gowns, agricultural and industrial specialties, among others. IFC’s new investment consists of a $60m A Loan to support Fitesa’s expansion plans in three of its manufacturing plants in Brazil, namely Gravataí, Cosmópolis and Jacareí, including the installation of new production lines for nonwoven spunmelt, new technology to produce wipes as well as warehouse expansion, all within existing premises. Gravataí plant is located in the State of Rio Grande do Sul and Cosmópolis and Jacareí are located in the State of Sao Paulo.
