Description
Description | FLAIR - Flourishing Art in Rural Areas is a transformative 24-month European project aimed at revitalizing 3 pilot rural territories and improving the wellbeing of young people living in remote communities through artistic practices and engagement in cultural activities. The project aims to introduce an innovative model of dynamic collaboration between artists, cultural actors (such as curators, cultural mediators, etc) and local youth - who bring their lived experiences and perspectives as core drivers of the process - weaving together diverse creative voices, expertises and perspectives in a dialogic process. Set in 3 rural European areas with prior experience in cultural regeneration, FLAIR builds on these foundations to address persistent gaps in youth wellbeing and cultural access. Over 2 years, FLAIR combines local research, immersive residencies, the co-creation of a replicable model for cultural growth in peripheral areas, and capacity-building among partners to support experimentation across different disciplines and topics as key factors and strategic levers to enhance youth wellbeing in rural areas. FLAIR’s core innovation lies in this collaborative, cross-sectoral artistic process: artists, cultural professionals and rural youth bring their distinct standpoints into co-designing and leading the regeneration of the 3 pilot territories, and their shared creativity becomes the engine for local transformation through a situated learning approach. By involving local youth not just as participants, but as co-creators and connectors within their communities, FLAIR empowers them as future ambassadors of cultural regeneration, ensuring long-term impact beyond the project’s duration. FLAIR offers a fresh, inclusive approach for non-urban contexts, opening new career pathways in rural areas for the cultural and creative fields, enhancing youth wellbeing and addressing the isolation often felt in remote areas, where access to culture, peers and visibility is limit. |
