Fleet Operator Equipment Enhancement: Replacement of Radio System and Operator Seats

The fleet of 256 buses require improvements to its radio systems and as well as upgrades, in some cases, to its operator seats: Radio System - Current technology such as analog radios will become obsolete. The project will convert the 256 buses as well as 19 Supervisor vehicles and 20 handheld units from analogue to digital radio communication. These improvements in technology will provide a modern and reliable source of communication improving transit service and reliability as well as ensure a better response mechanism for Bus Operator Health & Safety issues. Operator Seats - The replacement of approximately 70 bus operator seats to reflect upgraded standards which don’t comply with the City’s current specifications. Modification will further improve Bus Operator Health & Safety.
