Description

Description

Flint's Mass Transportation Authority (MTA) transitioned from diesel to propane-powered buses starting in 2010, expanding to operate 150 propane-powered buses as part of a statewide fleet of nearly 500. This initiative has saved over $4 million in the first five years and significantly reduced diesel particulate emissions in the community. The MTA has reinvested savings into clean technologies including hydrogen, electric, and compressed natural gas buses, and built its own hydrogen production plant in Grand Blanc. The project was supported by Roush CleanTech, a Livonia-based company providing the technology for these greener buses.
