Description
Description | The project consists of the rehabilitation of 8.5 km of submarine water line to improve the reliability of Yellowknife, N’Dilo and Dettah communities potable water to mitigate the risk of the upstream contamination by the arsenic stored in the Giant Mine complex chambers in case of flood-induced hazards. Natural infrastructure improvements will also significantly increase flood water retention, reduce erosion from storm water run-off and increase the carbon sink capacity of regional ecological assets. Once complete, the project will increase the resilience of the community, and directly benefit 21,373 people in addition to allow for long-term savings on recovery and replacement costs. |
