Description | The project consists of repairing washed-out sections of riverbank in 3 areas along a 600m stretch of the Upsalquitch River by building up each slope with armor stone. The stone will be keyed into the water bed and will be built up to the top of existing embankment at a slope of 1/1.5. Recent flooding of the Upsalquitch River has caused erosion to the embankment in several areas, threatening the Upsalquitch River Road and Mann Road. Subsequent erosion could result in a full washout of either road. The new armour stone will increase the natural capacity of the riverbank to adapt to climate change impacts, natural disasters, and extreme weather events. |
