Description | The Florence Bridge Replacement Project involves constructing a new bridge and approach 300 feet south of the current bridge over the Illinois River. The new bridge will eliminate the need for a 24-7 lift span operator and aims to reduce accidents involving vehicles and barges. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027 and is expected to take 24-30 months, with Route 106 remaining open for most of the time except for two 30-day closures. |
