The project involves a proposed equity investment of $7 to $10 million in Fluidic Energy (“Fluidic” or “the Company”), an early stage project to produce zinc-air batteries to support critical loads and backup power applications worldwide. Fluidic’s solutions offer customers significant operating and capital savings making them a viable alternative to diesel generators and lead-acid batteries. The proposed IFC investment will support expansion of assembly in Bogor, Indonesia, and business development in emerging markets. Fluidic also has operations in the United States, where the Company performs research and development, and manufactures some parts used in the assembly operations in Indonesia. Fluidic’s battery assembly facility in Indonesia is a leased building of approximately 3,000 square meters, used for assembly, storage, and simulated site testing of Fluidic’s batteries. Those batteries are assembled with standard supplies purchased locally as well as elsewhere in emerging markets, notably anodes, printed circuit boards, and electronics. Fluidic’s assembly building contains electrolyte mixers, adhesive dispensers with heated drums, and other machinery. Fluidic workers employ standard equipment to mix the electrolyte recipe, while battery enclosures are sealed robotically to guarantee quality.
