Description
Description | The Connecting Communities - Flying Dust and Meadow Lake Walking Path Expansion project will see Flying Dust First Nation and the City of Meadow Lake connected through the installation of 3.18 kilometers of asphalt walking path and 1.93 kilometers of concrete sidewalk. This new infrastructure will not only connect these 2 neighboring communities, but also connect existing active transportation networks in each of these communities. The Connecting Communities project will provide increased and vital safe pedestrian access to community services. Since early on in the COVID-19 pandemic our existing walking paths saw significant increased usage. This expansion will allow for further outdoor recreation opportunities, while still allowing residents to keep physical distance from one another it will also offer age friendly and accessible access to outdoor recreation opportunities for both communities. Currently pedestrian access to connect Flying Dust to Meadow Lake is limited to using the edge of Highway 55. We believe this project would increase public safety by removing pedestrians from the highway and giving them an alternate method of access. . |
