Folkets Bio has been in the forefront of independent and arthouse distribution in Sweden over five decades (since 1973), distributes and exhibits around 20 films a year, both national and non-national. Of the total amount of films 4-6 are children's films. Folkets Bio has its own theatre chain with screens in 18 cities, and distribute to them as well as to other cinemas. The support from Creative Europe is of outmost importance. With the fund we generate, we are able to invest in 3-5 films non-national European films. We invest in MG and P&A. We look for directors that we have followed for a long time, for newcomers, and for films from less represented countries as well as films from the Nordic countries. Our policy is to have a wide range of genres; documentaries, live-action, animation, short films as well children's films. We aim for a broad audience in cinemas as well as on various VOD platforms.
