Food production center of expertise - Phase 1

The project involves redeveloping the facilities in a sector of the Gatineau Hospital in order to create a food expertise center, with preparation areas, refrigerated rooms and food production equipment. The centralization of food production (textured dishes in this case) allows better control of the process and hygiene standards and thus reduces the risk of spreading pathogens. The CISSS de l’Outaouais wishes to set up this center of expertise for all textured dishes in order to offer customers foods with an adapted and modeled texture for users suffering from malnutrition problems, in particular dysphagia, dementia, cancer, stroke, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and muscular dystrophy. The project will support pandemic response and economic recovery, notably by maintaining and upgrading health infrastructure.
