Description

Description

Access to healthy, affordable, and sustainably produced food remains a challenge across Europe, exacerbating health inequalities and environmental issues. Food waste, lack of transparency in labelling, and insufficient food education further deepen socio-economic disparities, primarily for consumers in high-risk communities. The Food4Inclusion project promotes sustainable food systems, equal access to healthy food, stronger consumer protection, and better food education. By tackling food waste, sustainability, and affordability, SAFE aims to improve consumer health and reduce inequalities in food access. Improving food donation procedures will contribute to the reduction of food surplus waste and its distribution to people in need. Over 4 years, SAFE will expand its network and strengthen the members’ capacity to drive change. It will introduce food literacy programs in schools and offer intergenerational, community-based training for migrants and diverse groups. Food4Inclusion will also advocate for sustainable and inclusive food policies, promoting transparent labelling, improving food donation systems, and stronger connection between farmers and consumers. Findings will be shared through targeted communication strategies, engaging policymakers, industry leaders, and civil society. Evidence-based campaigns will raise public awareness and encourage citizen action, contributing to a healthier, fairer, and more sustainable food system. By fostering a more inclusive and sustainable food system, Food4Inclusion will help reduce health disparities, support communities in need, and strengthen local food networks. The project’s long-term impact will be a healthier, fairer, and more resilient food landscape for future generations. Food4Inclusion is not just a project—it is a step towards a healthier, fairer, and more sustainable food future for all.
