Description
Description | EmpSocial is an international cooperation initiative empowering indigenous university students in Latin America through education in social and cultural entrepreneurship. It tackles social exclusion, limited education access, and socio-cultural innovation gaps by equipping young leaders with tools to develop sustainable, community-driven solutions. The initiative aligns with EU priorities, reinforcing social inclusion, sustainable growth, and environmental sustainability in line with Europe 2020 and the European Green Deal. By promoting education and entrepreneurship in vulnerable communities, it contributes to long-term development and innovation. EmpSocial unites universities from Latin America (Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, and Honduras) and Europe (Portugal, Spain, and Ireland), with additional beneficiaries from Bolivia, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. The project enhances student leadership and entrepreneurship while strengthening institutional capacities and fostering international knowledge exchange. To ensure long-term sustainability, the project’s website will remain active for three years after completion, serving as a resource hub. Faculty from Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, and Nicaragua will be trained alongside consortium professors to enable future replication. Coordinated by IPVC (Portugal), EmpSocial provides €3,000 seed funding for student-led projects, supporting incubation up to the proof-of-concept stage. Through international collaboration, inclusive education, and social entrepreneurship, the project fosters sustainable development and reduces inequalities across Latin America. By strengthening universities, empowering students, and supporting indigenous communities, EmpSocial ensures lasting impact beyond its initial implementation, creating sustainable and scalable results. |
