Description
Description | Fort Collins City Council is considering a plan to introduce paid on-street parking in the downtown area to encourage use of underutilized parking garages and increase revenue for the city's Parking Services. The plan involves converting roughly 800 free two-hour timed parking spots on downtown streets and surface lots into paid spots, with on-street parking costing $2 per hour for a maximum of four hours and select surface lots costing $1.50 per hour with no maximum time. The plan also includes installation of 64 multispace parking meters, new signage, gated systems, and license plate recognition systems in parking structures. The goal is to fix the 'upside-down' parking model and make the Parking Services department financially self-sufficient. |
