"FFplus responds to the call DIGITAL-EUROHPC-JU-2023-SME-01 ""Supporting the competitiveness and innovation potential of SMEs"" by creating a framework for implementing open calls for sub-projects in two thematic areas for SMEs. This framework, adapted from the successful Fortissimo project series, including its latest version FF4EuroHPC, will be based on the Fortissimo mechanisms, processes, and experiences, tailored towards the goals of the current Call. The planned project will spend €24.5 million on sub-projects leading to six open calls, three of which will target small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) using high-performance computing (HPC) to improve their business, and three of which will target SMEs/Start-ups in the field of generative artificial intelligence (AI). The work carried out under this project will lead to innovative experiments and innovation studies, highlighting the value of HPC adoption and AI adoption for SMEs across Europe. As a key outcome, the publication of success stories from the experiments (showing the benefits and impacts of adopting HPC in their business models) and from the innovation studies (showing the effect of adopting large-scale HPC resources for the development of generative AI) will take place regularly during the project. It will provide high-value material not only for the participants in the sub-projects but also for all members of the European HPC ecosystem. "
