Description
Description | AE is the only European organisation gathering together more than 80 national and regional associations advocating for the rights of autistic people from over 40 countries (including 25 Member States). For autistic people, their families and their representative organisations across Europe, taking part in a European network has a high added value as they are faced with similar challenges concerning access to education, employment, health, social inclusion and independent living, etc., across the EU. Our priority areas aim at fostering a fair and social Europe, notably by ensuring the full implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR) and the European Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030 (ESRPD) at the EU and national level. AE works with its members to: Advocate for the rights of autistic people before the European institutions and monitor European legislations and policies; Promote the full implementation of the UN CRPD, including access to education, training and employment, independent living, accessible health and social services, adequate social protection, independent living, protection from discrimination at European and national level; Promote the exchange of information, good practices and experience in the field of autism across Europe as well as relevant EU legislation, policies, and strategies; Liaise with other non-governmental organisations sharing similar objectives Promote awareness and acceptance of autism. Throughout 2022, AE will aim at informing decision-makers about the diversity of disability and the specific issues faced by autistic people in various aspects of life, and how they can be addressed. It will be achieved by by conducting data collection and analysis of key areas of concerns for autistic people. Capacity-building of our membership and promoting mutual learning will be central to our activities, for example with our international congress 2022. |
