Fostering InterCultural Learning and Active Citizenship through internationalisation of schools and non-formal education

EFIL aims to strengthen its network’s capacity and continue addressing the need to enhance the intercultural learning skills of teachers and pupils, and to strengthen their active citizenship competence. This will be achieved leveraging EFIL’s and Members’ engagement with approximately 9.000 secondary schools around Europe, reaching more than 13.000 beneficiaries in schools, as well as other relevant stakeholders, including public authorities and associations to broadly integrate internationalisation strategies within secondary school education, utilising the transformative power of learning mobility and non formal education. Our core objective is to significantly expand access to inclusive, high-quality learning mobility, fostering a crucial public dialogue to ensure these opportunities are available to a growing number of school students and educators within the European Education Area. We will systematically gather and widely disseminate vital expertise on the development of intercultural competence and other skills through mobility. Ultimately, EFIL will strive to raise awareness on the impact of volunteering for intercultural learning to reach more and more people with European Union values, empowering them to become globally engaged and responsible citizens.
