Description

Description

The objectives of this project include maintaining a vital community hub, which serves unemployed, homeless and immigrant populations; improving the accessibility of the community hub by adding a ramp and making internal accessibility modifications; improving the health and safety of staff and users by improving air quality; and improving the environmental sustainability of the facility by adding insulation. The primary project scope includes 300 linear feet of waterproofing work along the foundation of the building, along with the connection of a sump pump and connection to the city storm system. The project also includes modifying the west entrance of the building for accessibility, and HVAC upgrades to improve air quality. PARC serves the entire community of Parkdale, including seniors, newcomer youth, immigrants and refugees, the arts community and the unemployed. PARC also provides housing, food, employment and recreational services to vulnerable communities including those living with poverty, mental illness and addictions. Indigenous peoples are disproportionately represented in Toronto’s poorest neighbourhoods, such as South Parkdale.
