Description

Description

The project involves the construction of 146 km of highway connecting 18 municipalities in the regions of Antioquia, Caldas and Risaralda in Colombia. The highway includes sections La Pintada-La Felisa; La Felisa-Irra; La Felisa-Asia; Asia-La Virginia; Tesalia by-pass; and Irra-Tres Puertas. It involves 24 km of new two-way roadway between the Asia and Alexandria sectors, which includes the 3.5 km of the Tesalia Tunnel in Functional Unit 2. Also, 31 km make up Functional Unit 3 (La Manuela- Tres Puertas-Irra) and 15 km corresponds to Functional Unit 4 (Irra-La Felisa). A 3.5-km-long dual-carriageway Tesalia Tunnel will reduce the travel time by 35 to 40 minutes in the region. The tunnel will connect Caldas, Risaralda, and Antioquia and provide access to the main coffee production centers. The project aims to improve connectivity in the Coffee Axis region and strengthen its accessibility with rest of Colombia and the port of Buenaventura.
