FraudNews – Towards levelling up consumer knowledge on tackling frauds online and offline

The aim of the FRAUDNEWS project is to promote digital safety in everyday life, raise awareness of online criminals' methods through education and communication, and prevent online frauds while enhancing media literacy. The project seeks to protect individuals from various types of internet, phone and door-to-door sale scams, financial losses, and the exposure of personal and user data to cybercriminals. The initiative supports people's ability to navigate an increasingly digitized society independently. The FRAUDNEWS project provides information and education to all Finnish-speaking consumers, particularly focusing on seniors over 65, who are most vulnerable to online scams due to their more limited experience and knowledge. The FRAUDNEWS project produces monthly updates on current digital scams and cyberattacks, increasing consumer awareness of fraud and scams. The news updates are published and advertised online to ensure they are easily accessible to the relevant audience. Additionally, the project organises training events and communicates through various media channels about current online and phone scams and how to identify them.
