Free High-Speed Internet Access in Homeless Shelters

planned

The project involves installing free, high-speed internet access in homeless shelters across New York State. It aims to provide broadband internet and WiFi in both common and private areas of temporary housing facilities, including family, youth, and domestic violence shelters, with download and upload speeds of at least one gigabit per second or the maximum commercially available in the local district. Shelters would submit an internet access plan for state approval and implement the service within two years, with state reimbursement for costs through the ConnectALL grant program.
