Description

Description

Following the success of our most recent productions – Mo Harawe's THE VILLAGE NEXT TO PARADISE (Cannes UCR 24) Sebastian Meise’s GREAT FREEDOM (Oscar Shortlisted 22) and Stefan Ruzowitzky’s HINTERLAND (Locarno Piazza Grande Award 21) – FreibeuterFilm wants to further strengthen and expand its position in the European arthouse cinema market with a strong slate emphasizing the company’s international orientation. The slate comprises five director-driven films, all planned as international co-productions. They are diverse in terms of themes/genre and financial scope/budget, while they have in common the capacity to reach new audiences and territories. The slate includes the new films by acclaimed directors Sebastian Meise, Johanna Moder and Peter Brunner, as well as the 2nd feature of rising talent Mo Harawe, and as the debut of the emerging filmmaker Luz Olivares Capelle. These co-productions enable us to continue our cooperation with partners from Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg and France while establishing new partnerships with companies from UK, Italy, Slovenia and the Netherlands as well as with partners in non-European territories. We are convinced that the development and production of these projects will enable us to maintain a strong presence at major international festivals and achieve worldwide distribution. This slate represents a valuable opportunity to develop and produce higher-budget films with a distinct international outlook, further solidifying FreibeuterFilm’s place in the arthouse cinema market.
