Fridley Bridge Replacement Project on Central Avenue

Anoka County plans to replace the Central Ave NE bridge over Rice Creek in Fridley by removing the existing double box culvert structure and installing a new reinforced concrete beam bridge. The project includes removal of the existing steel pedestrian bridge to facilitate a future re-alignment of the Rice Creek Regional Trail beneath the new bridge for improved safety. The project is a collaborative effort involving Anoka County Highway Department, City of Fridley, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and Rice Creek Watershed District, which is also exploring stormwater treatment and streambank stabilization options alongside the bridge construction.
